MOSCOW, March 10 (UPI) -- Almost three-quarters of Russians say they trust President Dmitry Medvedev, and 81 percent who voted for him would do so again, a survey indicates.
A survey conducted last month by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center found trust levels for Medvedev have grown from 56 percent in 2006 to 73 percent in 2009, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.
The same poll indicated only 16 percent said that they did not trust the president, most of whom identified themselves as supporters of the opposing Communist Party and the ultra-nationalist LDPR.
Among the reasons given by those who said they would not vote for Medvedev again were ""absence of effective work"" and ""non-fulfillment of promises"" (30 percent) and ""a higher level of trust toward (Prime Minister Vladimir) Putin"" (28 percent), the news service reported.
It said the survey was conducted Feb. 21-22, as well as on Feb. 28 and March 1 among 1,600 Russians. The margin of error was reported to be no more than 3.4 percentage points.
