Pages in the History of the Second World War; Collaboration: Causes and Consequences

Moscow-Kiev, April 29 - RIA-Novosti held a conference and video-bridge on the topic: ""History Pages In the History of the Second World War; Collaboration: Causes and Consequences."" The event was attended by academics from Russia, Ukraine, Germany, USA, UK, Latvia, Belarus, Moldova, and Norway. Olga Kamenchuk (Ольга Каменчук) presented to her colleagues the results of a new large-scale study VCIOM conducted on the eve of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The conference was organized jointly by the Institute of CIS Countries, the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, compatriots living abroad and for International Humanitarian Cooperation, the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS, and the Russian Information Agency Novosti (RIA-Novosti).Part of the activities were simultaneously conducted in Kiev, Ukrainian through videoconferencing.

The conference was held in advance of the 65th anniversary of Victory Day (World War II). The participants noted that the relevance of the chosen topic has increased significantly in recent years in view of the tense historical debate on the role and responsibilities of conspirators in different countries who collaborated with the occupying Nazi regime during the Second World war.
